Question 1

In what order should I read the series?

Accepted Answer

Publication order is reading order. The Twelve Words Series is one continuous investigation told across twelve novels: start with Calypso's Word and work forward. Each book resolves its own case, but the conspiracy accumulates.

Question 2

How many books will there be in total?

Accepted Answer

Twelve. The arc was outlined as twelve before Book One was published and the ending has not changed.

Question 3

When does the next book come out?

Accepted Answer

The next, second book in the “Twelve Words” series, titled “Electra's Word,” is in the process of being written.

Question 4

How much of the tradecraft is real?

Accepted Answer

The institutions, procedures and paperwork are researched from open sources and declassified material. The operations are invented. Where the two conflict, the story wins — but never in a way a professional would find insulting.
